HOW TO PREPARE FOR LOGICAL REASONING FOR CLAT 2022
Most people have trouble solving this section because it's not about the questions but rather the practical application of the concepts that come up as a problem. The only solution to the problem at hand is to ANALYSE YOUR MISTAKES PROPERLY.
One thing is very clear, grasping concepts is not at all tough in logical reasoning. However, even after that most students score less than 10. It is for this reason that one has to bring attention to not just solving questions but also how to solve questions efficiently. Some important things to keep in mind-
1. Logical reasoning, like English, is a very heavy reading-oriented subject. This means that most passages will be difficult to understand. They might come from philosophy, science, sociology, economics, or current affairs. But unlike English where you could find most of the answers directly from the passage, in LR you would not find answers that easily, but rather it is more about what your understanding of the passage is.
2. HOW TO BEGIN? Since you will find very limited practice questions online, you can try to make quick summaries of newspaper editorials in your head. Then try to see what is the conclusion, assumption, and inference from the text. If you have a study buddy, it will be great to discuss different opinions. This can be a good practice to start with as once you can easily cull out these things, solving questions in the exam will be a smooth walk.
3. SOURCES- Prefer solving as many questions as you can. You can use
i) practice questions (sectional tests) from CL/ LE
ii) mock tests
4. HOW TO ANALYSE MISTAKES 'PROPERLY'?
CR as a subject is about finding the most appropriate (not correct) option from all the options that are provided. There can be many answers to a question as everybody interpret different lines in a different manner but one has to choose the closest option. Hence, one has to be very careful with the smallest of the word and the meaning attached to them. This is the most important thing that you must keep in mind.
Additionally, with respect to analysis, the question that you need to ask yourself is why did I choose a particular option over others? What made me think that this is the right answer? What are those things that I missed in the correct option? Once you answer these questions to yourself and check that with the answer key you will realize that over a period of time as you start understanding your mistakes your marks will start to improve. Although the speed with which the marks will improve will be slow, do not give up.
5. IDEAL TIME AND MARKS
Time- 25-30 minutes (approx. 5 minutes to a passage)
Marks- 20+
Total questions- 30
